Again, Turkish Airlines Arrives Nigeria without Passengers Luggage

Barely two weeks after a violent protest with passengers over its failure to deliver passengers bag on arrival, Turkish Airlines on Saturday arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja without passengers’ luggage.

The action, which had previously stirred outrage has again pitted the airline against the passengers and concerned aviation authorities.

Angered by the latest development, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Saleh Dunoma had advised the management of Turkish Airlines to resolve the recurrent cases of arriving Nigeria without passengers’ luggage once and for all, when the airline’s flight arrived by 12.35 am Saturday.

Dunoma described it as unacceptable, the re- occurrence of such infraction barely two weeks after a similar incident led to a breach of airport security by Turkish Airlines that arrived the Abuja Airport without passengers luggage, prompting passengers to besiege the airline’s flight at the tarmac with the aim to stop it from taking off, an action that was a breach of safety regulation.

Dunoma who spoke at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja expressed the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika’s displeasure to the  management of Turkish Airlines on ‎the re- occurrence  of the incident.

He called for quick and lasting resolution of what he described as unwholesome act capable of disrupting the peace and harmony of the airport.

FAAN boss however appealed to passengers to remain calm and law abiding as the Authority is making frantic efforts to find a lasting solution and safeguard their rights.

Turkish Airlines few weeks ago arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja without the passengers’ luggage, an incident that action prompted the Minister, Senator Hadi to suspend the airport manager, the head of Aviation Security and another top official at the airport.

However, the airline paid compensation to the passengers whose luggage was delayed.
