FAAN GRADUATES ANOTHER 216 NEWLY RECRUITED AVSEC AND ARFFS

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has said that management will continue its commitment to human capacity development in order to meet the highest standards of professionalism and best industry practices, as well as continue to train and develop capacity of its members of staff, in line with the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

He made this disclosure at the passing out parade for the second batch, Aviation Security and Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services personnel held in Lagos on Friday February 17, 2017.

Engr Dunoma, who was represented at the event by the Authority’s Director of Commercial and Business Development, Alhaji Sadiku Abdulkadir Rafindadi, admonished the graduating officers to remember all they have learnt and make a personal commitment to excel in their chosen careers.  He added, “I indulge you to pursue this challenging career path, because it’s rewarding, you have a great responsibility to live up to the vision of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria which is “to be amongst the best airport groups in the world”.

The Director of Human Resources, Hajia Salamatu B. Umar-Eluma in her address to the new officers, said that they have been recruited to serve in the Para-military arms of the organisation where discipline, professional conduct, loyalty and special vigilance are required. Commending the instructors and coordinators of the training programme for their commitment to management’s vision, she applauded the support of her team received from the Managing Director in the course of implementing the training.

The occasion was witnessed by, CSI T.A. Adetula, Rep. Comptroller Immigration, MMIA, Mr. Stephen Fayemiwo, Asst. Comptroller of Quarantine, MMIA, Mr. Usman Wada, Deputy Commander, NDLEA, Barrister Chidi Nkwonta, Sector Commander FRSC, Benue State Command, as well as, representatives of the Nigerian Customs, the Police and other stakeholders.

The event climaxed with presentation of awards of excellence to those who distinguished themselves in the programme. The awards are in three different categories, for Aviation Security officers, Fire Officers and Parade Commanders.
Also in attendance at the event were the Authority’s Director of Security Services, Mr. J. J. Omaghomi, acting Director, Airport Operations, Mr. Oyarelemi Mahmud, Acting Director, Cargo Development, Mr J.B Shallangwa, General Manager, Training and Manpower Development, Mr Nathaniel McAbraham, General Manager, Human Resources, Mr Sanni Jimoh, General Manager, Legal services, Mr Charles Onyeri, General Manager, Welfare Services, Mr. M. D. Musa, Ag. Genral Manager, ARFFS, Victor Akiselure; Deputy General Manager, ARFFS (Compliance), Odugbemi Adebola Sunday, the Medical Team, led by Dr. (Mrs) Olatunji and other dignitaries.
In his closing remarks, the MD re-assured that FAAN will continue to invest in its human resources, while also congratulating all award winners, Parade Commanders and the champion guards for their excellent performance.
