Death in Plane
Arik Aircraft

A 39- year-old female passenger on board Arik Air’s Port Harcourt-Lagos flight was confirmed dead on arrival this morning by medical personnel at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Domestic Terminal 1 (General Aviation Terminal), Ikeja, Lagos.

The deceased who was to celebrate her one year marriage anniversary next month, boarded the flight from Port Harcourt in company of her husband and cousin.

The cause of death was yet to be ascertained when this report was filed.

Also on Wednesday it was confirmed that a middle-aged female passenger billed to travel with Etihad Airways died in the morning in the toilet at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The deceased daughter later disclosed that she suffered from hypertension and diabetes.
It was believed that the deceased was travelling on medical treatment and as she suffered a bout of pains she rushed to the toilet where she died.

Spokesman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Yakubu Dati, confirmed the incident and said the agency was investigating the death and would give details of what happened later.

Similar deaths had been recorded at the airport where sick passengers being taken abroad for treatment died before boarding the aircraft.

Last year UK deputy high commissioner collapsed and died on arrival at the Lagos airport from the United States as he suffered a heart attack while disembarking from the flight.
Also during the Ebola crisis last year a post-middle aged man died while on his way to hospital in India.
There have been series of similar death of passengers on transit and their deaths were neither connected to actions taken at the airports or while on-board the flights.
