FG Sacks Aviation Agency Chiefs

After many years of speculation, the Federal Government has finally relieved aviation agency heads in the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria and the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) and replaced them with new appointees.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday approved the appointment of Captain Fola C. Akinkuotu as Managing Director NAMA and now replaces the acting Managing Director, Emma Anasi who was due for retirement. Captain Akinkuotu is a seasoned transport pilot, flight and aircraft maintenance engineer, airline chief executive and a trained Aviation Industry Regulator. He was once the Rector of International College of Aviation, Ilorin, Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and before his appointment the CEO of Aero Contractors.

Government also appointed Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi as Director-General, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, replacing Dr. Anthony Anuforom.

Mashi, a Professor of Geography with specialty in Environmental Application of Remote Sensing, Professor Mashi is currently a Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Abuja

Captain Abdulsalam Mohammed, now the new Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria replaces Captain Samuel Caulcrick. Mohammed is an alumnus of the College, Capt. Mohammed is a renowned Civil Aviation Trainer and Examiner with accreditation by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and the Federal Civil Aviation Administration.

Also Akinola Olateru was appointed the Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB)

Olateru is an engineer of international repute and a trained Air Accident Manager and Certified Safety Officer with Aircraft Maintenance Engineering licenses in Nigeria, USA and the United Kingdom.
