World-renowned luxury wine, spirit and Champaign marketer, Hennessey has opened a bar at the departure area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos in partnership with Things Remembered.
The General Manager, Moet Hennessey Nigeria, Paul Auriol said the company was happy to establish the bar in Nigeria, noting that it is the first bar Moet Hennessey has established anywhere in Africa.
“We are very happy and proud to partner with Things Remembered, it was also a project that was lunched in 2015, it was the year Hennessy celebrated its 250 anniversary. So it was a way for us to show our appreciations to Nigerian consumers.
“This is first Hennessy bar we have in Nigeria, and further than that, this is the first we have in Africa. Once again, it is very important for us to have the first in Lagos. Since Nigeria is the one that enjoys the first Hennessy in the African continent,” he said.
The CEO of Things Remembered, Adeola Omikunle told newsmen that the bar was established in order to add value and meet the taste of special passenger clientele that would want to wet their buds before boarding their flight.
“Our motivation is to add value at the airport. We are trying to rebrand Nigeria and this is the way that I am contributing my own quota in rebranding Nigeria. You know Nigeria is a hub for Africa, and we want to build a facility that will take 60-70 percent of the market in Nigeria. With the current drive by the government for foreign direct investment, we have quite a lot of foreign investors coming into the country and trying to make some investments,” Omikunle said.
The brand manager of Moet Hennessy, Lere Owokoya said opening the bar was a way of showing appreciation to Nigerians who have been patronising the luxury products, adding that Hennessey is the best product of its class in the world.
“Hennessy is one of the most serious brands to Nigerians. It is just one of the reasons we are showing it to the market and Nigerians. We just marked our 250th anniversary. What we can say is the few things of the many things that we are doing, just to show and mark our footprints in Nigeria. There are so many things that you can experience; many things that we are doing in this bar,” he said.
