The President of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Dr. Bernard Olumuyiwa Aliu visited Nigeria and held high level talks with all aviation parastatals chiefs.
The meeting was held at the Aviation House,Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Headquarters on Friday, 31st March,2017.
At the meeting,each of the CEOs gave a brief of the various activities in their respective Agencies as regards progress made and also challenges faced.
Other issues discussed at the meeting include the conclusion of the certification of Murtala International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, at the end of September, 2017; Search and Rescue Summit coming up in Togo; Cyber Security, Manpower, Upgrade of Equipment; Succession Plan among others.
He congratulated the new CEOs on their appointments and also promised to provide necessary assistance where possible.
Dr. Aliu arrived Lagos on Thursday night, in company of the Director General, NCAA,Capt.Muhtar Usman from Accra, Ghana, where he had earlier attended a Safety conference en route United Arab Emirates.
According to him, he decided to stop over at the Aviation House to acquaint himself with the new changes in the headship of aviation Agencies in Nigeria.
It is pertinent to state that ICAO, through its numerous interventions, is already assisting Nigeria in several areas including the ongoing certification of Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja.
Aside from the Director General of the NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman, other Chief Executive Officers in attendance were Capt. Folayele Akinkuotu, Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and Engr. Saleh Dunoma, Managing Director, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Others are Capt. Abdulsalam Muhammed, Rector, Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Professor Sani Abdullahi Mashi, Director General, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) and Engr. Akinola Olateru, Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB).
On Dr. Aliu’s entourage was Nigeria’s representative on the ICAO Council, Capt. Nuhu Musa.
He is billed to leave for Dubai this weekend.
