An 18-year-old flight attendant was raped in her hotel room in Romulus on Monday morning – and Romulus Police are seeking the public’s help for any details about the perpetrator.

The rape took place in the early morning on Monday, between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., after the flight attendant arrived at the Days Inn on Middlebelt Road along with co-workers, said Capt. Derran Shelby with Romulus Police.

The assailant arrived at around the same time as the victim. He drove a separate vehicle, loitered both inside and around the hotel – and at some point Monday morning, the assailant was able to get into the victim’s hotel room, commit rape and leave a short time later. No weapons were seen.

“At this point, we do not know exactly how the suspect was able to gain entry into her room,” Shelby said in the statement.

Police did not release a description of the assailant, but said that any surveillance photos along with more details would be released as soon as they are available.
