The Governor of Plateau State, Rt Hon Simon Lalong has been commended for making peace a cardinal objective of his administration.
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris stated this at the Ground Breaking for the establishment of the 66 Nigeria Police Mobile Squadron in Shendam and the formal presentation of security vehicles to some agencies in Plateau State in Shendam, Plateau State. The Inspector General commended Gov Lalong for donating the large expanse of land, enjoining others to emulate this gesture. He further appreciated the Plateau state government for equipting the State Command with communication gadgets. He also charged members of the police force to respect citizens rights.
Earlier in his welcome address, Gov Simon Lalong paid glowing tributes to the Inspector General for his dedication and committment to securing lives and property. According to Lalong “… we say you are working”
According to the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati the Governor emphasised the need for intensified vigilance and community participation towards lasting peace. He thanked the Inspector General for bringing Police closer to the people .
The IG later performed the ground breaking ceremony which was preceeding by the hoisting of the Nigeria Police Force flag in company of Gov Simon Lalong and other dignitaries. The highlight of the occassion was the commissioning of 51 security vehicles after which the IG personally drove one of the vehicles in company of Gov Simon Lalong to the delight of all guests who gave them a standing ovation.
