US Evacuates 281more Citizens from Nigeria over Coronavirus Pandemic

The United States on Wednesday evening evacuated another batch of 281 Americans from the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, (MMIA) because of Coronavirus pandemic.

The Americans were evacuated by Ethiopian Airlines with a Boeing 777-300 aircraft with registration mark, ET-ASK to Washington DC.

The flight, which departed at 16:00 pm local time had both children and the elderly onboard.

A total of 866 US nationals have so far been evacuated from the Lagos airport.

The evacuation kicked off Monday, April 6, 2020 with the first batch of 385 nationals, Tuesday, April 7 with 200 nationals and Wednesday, April 8 with 281 nationals.

The US Department of State disclosed that it has repatriated over 44,000 U.S. citizens from 78 countries since January 29 till April 6, 2020.

The countries where American citizens have been evacuated include Albania, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, China, Colombia, Congo (DRC), Cote d’Ivoire and Cyprus.

Others are, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, France, Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Hungary, India, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kuwait, Lebanon, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mongolia, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nicaragua Nigeria, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, and Uzbekistan.”
